Date Summary:   1 Session on 1/22/2020.

The Early Childhood Forum is changing it's format this year and will be bringing in Jessica Peters on 1/22/20 from 12:30-3:30 to focus on The Impact of Toxic Stress. Many children are growing up in environments where they experience toxic stress, stress that permeates day after day and does not go away. This toxic stress (death in the family, abuse in the home or neighborhood, lack of health care, etc.) has a direct impact on the brainís development, beginning as early as infancy. Her three hour workshop will explore brain development, what toxic stress is, how toxic stress impacts the brainís development, how this plays out with behaviors in the classroom and what we can do as educators to help children succeed in spite of toxic stress in their lives. The interactive workshop includes a hands on activity applying the concepts to real life experiences, videos, discussion, reflection and planning.
